From The Consumerist:

Is Dell's Tech Support Staff Trying To Sell You Things Yet?

...we got an anonymous email the other day from someone who claims he works as a Dell tech support specialist, and he wrote that "starting after the first of the year... we are now going to be required to sell you items that you don't need."

What supreme crap. This is exactly what another company does. Their tech support reps are instructed to look for opportunities to sell you things when you call for help. Are you calling because your hard drive just died and you may have lost years worth of data? Well that's a perfect opportunity for them to sell you and external hard drive so you can back up your data from now on! I always found it extremely distasteful, and frankly I think it must be very uncomfortable to try and make a sale to someone who just wants some technical assistance.

Jen and I celebrated New Years Eve at the James Joyce Irish Pub in Baltimore.

They were serving a five-course meal that included soup, salad, appetizer, main course, and dessert. Here's what I had:

  1. Lobster bisque
  2. Tomato and avacado salad
  3. Smoked salmon sushi roll
  4. Crabmeat crusted baked Alaskan halibut
  5. Rustic apple gallette

We shared a table with the Monday night pub quiz team.

Just before midnight everyone went outside and watched the fireworks from the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Dinner was excellent and a great time was had by all.
